Rosemarie Coffman joined IMH on January 1, 2006, as Administrative/Grants Assistant.

• In March 2006, The IMH Board of Directors made several changes to our grant-awarding procedures, which will make our funding more accessible to many of you. And will also make our response time much quicker. These changes have been incorporated into our website, but here is a summary of them:

Proposal deadlines: We are altering our grant review cycles for our large grant programs to be more responsive. Applicants may apply at anytime and award decisions will be made at each of our Board meetings. Letters of intent will still be required (allow10 business days for approval) and a full proposal will have to be submitted a few weeks prior to the board meeting date. The schedule is provided on the homepage under “Upcoming Deadlines.”

We now allow support of existing services/programs, rather than supporting only new or “in-addition-to” programs, in both our Early Childhood and our Child and Adolescent Mental Health grant making programs.

Increase within Early Childhood Mini Grant Program: This change is intended to support the reopening of child care centers in Orleans Parish. We are increasing the amount we will fund for materials and supplies. The amount awarded will depend upon the size of the child care center with the average expected to be $3,500.

Mini Grants: we are adding a mini grant program ($10,000 or less) to include applications for child and adolescent programs in addition to our Early Childhood (0-6) grant program. Mini Grants can be submitted at any time with funding decisions to be made usually within two weeks.

If you have questions about any these changes, please do not hesitate to call 566-1852. As always, you are encouraged to call and discuss your ideas.
